Jennifer Ogunsola is a writer and communications professional based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Her editorial work, which focuses on lifestyle, wellness, news, entertainment and career, has appeared in Black Enterprise, Upscale and TRACE magazines, on the websites of theRoot.com,Loop21.com and AOL’s City’s Best and she’s written shows for BET Networks.
Currently serving as the communications manager for the City of Atlanta’s Department of Parks and Recreation, she offers strategic counsel to the Commissioner on message development and media management and is responsible for all written and digital materials that convey information about the Department.
Jennifer has also served as the media relations manager for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, leading mayoral projects and assisting the director of communications on all communications needs. From 2006 through 2009, Jennifer worked for Atlanta’s previous mayor and two mayors in Baltimore.
As a communications professional, Jennifer has over a decade of experience in television, radio, print journalism and public relations. She started her communications career at Radio One, Inc. in Philadelphia working for the station’s program and music directors, later working at Radio One, Inc. in Baltimore. Jennifer has been featured on television and in print and online publications including PBS’ Art Beat, Atlanta’s Fox 5, Atlanta Tribune Magazine, Examiner.com, Source Magazine, revolution.is, The Fab Empire, and other publications.
Jennifer holds a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Temple University and a M.A. in journalism from the University of Baltimore. She serves as the executive director of the Atlanta chapter of ColorComm: Women of Color in Communications, the only professional women’s organization focused on executive level women in communications.
She spends her evenings writing, procrastinating, cooking, yelling “stop Emmy” to her one-year-old Lab mix, Emjay, and Instagramming all of the above.
